Bud Moore’s Ford

This Ford C 800 transporter was used by Bud Moore Engineering to carry the Mercury Cougar and Mustang Trans Am cars.  One of two originally built by Holman & Moody for NASCAR use, it was sold to Moore when Ford dropped out of NASCAR racing. Now owned and restored by the owner of the actual 1967 Cougar Tans Am racer, it still carries the car to vintage races. Only two 1/32 scale Cougars have been available so far as I know; one by Revell and the second made by Zee (a Hong Kong toy maker). Bud Moore also campaigned the Ford Trans Am Mustangs over several seasons, beginning in 1968, so the forthcoming Scalextric Mustang should be a perfect match for the truck in blue, white and red as well as the orange color schemes.  With Holman Moody decals on the doors, the truck would also look good with NASCAR Fords on the back.

The model is based on the excellent Entex 1/32 Ford truck kit available in several versions as fictional Ferrari, Tyrell and Porsche transporters.  All of the kits, even the tractor trailer versions, contain the long chassis rails necessary to built this particular truck. The ramp portion of the truck is very easily constructed from sheet styrene and structural shapes.   Suitable truck kits have been made in virtually ever scale known to man (except 1/43, strangely) so it can be matched to any collection of models.
